It works best for Grampian

ANOTHER major Scottish food producer is the Grampian Country Food Group, with a turnover of £850 million. Says managing Director, Archie Fyffe: "We needed a process to provide additional cooling as production demand increased. This has been achieved with the addition of flake-ice to the spin chiller. We find the Geneglace flake-ice maker (installed by Forbes Refrigeration Ltd, Aberdeen) completely reliable." Optimising |
the spin coolers efficiency in this way
has meant that approximately 38,000 birds can be cooled per 7 ½ hour ship, from +27deg.C to an exit temperature of +3deg.C. The Geneglace unit, installed in the rood space and discharging directly into the spin chiller below, provides a rate of 1.33 tonnes/hr. It means that birds now pass through the chiller at an average hourly load of 26,350lbs/11.950 kg. Dry flake-ice at -5deg.C is said to work far more effectively than cubed or wet ice (e.g. crushed ice). U. distributor of all Geneglace equipment is AFR Refrigeration Ltd. |
